IT'S NO YOKE

Emmy Award-winner JeremyPiven will play Bobby Gould in a revival of David Mamet's Speed-the-Plow, according to The New York Times. The production, scheduled to open in the fall, will be helmed by Neil Pepe, the artistic director of the Atlantic Theatre Company, which Mamet founded.

The show's original production starred Joe Mantegna, Ron Silver and Madonna. It opened at the Royale Theatre on Tuesday May3, 1988 and closed on December 31, 1988 after 278 performances and 24 previews. Silver received a Tony Award for Leading Actor in a Play. There is a production of the play at the Old Vic in London now, which is closing on April 26. It stars Jeff Goldblum, Kevin Spacey and Laura Michelle Kelly.

Currently, Mamet is represented on Broadway by November, which stars Nathan Lane. His American Buffalo is scheduled to be revived on Broadway this fall. And his one-act Keep Your Pantheon will debut at Los Angeles' Kirk Douglas Theater in May.

Piven has appeared on stage in New York in Neil LaBute's Fat Pig. He won his Emmy for his work on the HBO series Entourage.
