  Kelli O'Hara

Lincoln Center's revival of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein's classic South Pacific will begin previews March 1, at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre. The opening is set for April 3. Bartlett Sher will direct.

Appearing as Nellie Forbush will be Kelli O'Hara. The role of Emile DeBecque will be played by Paulo Szot. O'Hara has received Tony nominations for The Light in the Piazza and The Pajama Game. Szot will be making his Broadway debut. But the baritone has sung in Carmen and La Nozza di Figaro in New York City Opera productions. The rest of the cast will be announced at a later date.

South Pacific began its storied run on April 7, 1949, at the Majestic Theatre. It starred Mary Martin and Ezio Pinza as Forbush and DeBecque. Also in the cast were William Tabbert as Lt. Cable, Juanita Hall as Bloody Mary, Myron McCormick as Luther Billis and Betta St. John as Liat. The curtain came down on January 16, 1954, after 1,925 performances.
