People who love Vanessa Redgrave, Boyd Gaines and James Earle Jones take note: You'll have added time to see them work their magic in Driving Miss Daisy. The show will not be hitting the open road as planned January 29. Instead, this revival of the Alfred Uhry classic is scheduled to continue through April 9, 2011. The Pulitzer Prize-winning play has broken all house records since opening on October 25, 2010.
The actors were thrilled by the extension. In a joint statement, they said, "We're all having such a wonderful time with each other and with Alfred's play. We are delighted to be continuing."
In a similar vein, playwright Alfred Uhry said, "It's so wonderful that Driving Miss Daisy, which I wrote almost 25 years ago, continues to resonate with audiences today. It's a dream to see it staged with such a wonderful cast."
