at Vivian Beaumont Theatre at Lincoln Center

By Roger B. Harris
Published April 5 2008

Clearly, the almost universal raves are the main reason that the Lincoln Center Theater's production of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical South Pacific will be staying at the Vivian Beaumont for many more enchanted evenings than originally planned. The show is selling tickets through January 4, 2009. The production had been scheduled to close June 22.

The show, directed by Bartlett Sher, stars Kelli O'Hara as Nellie Forbush, Paulo Szot as planter Emile deBecque, Matthew Morrison as Lt. Cable and Danny Burstein as Luther Billis, among others.

The Broadway cast recording will be done by Sony BMG Masterworks. The release date is scheduled for May 27.
