Simon Callow is at it again. That is, keeping in touch with his inner Charles Dickens. Callow will be in a double bill of two rarely performed one-handers by the mastro, Dr. Marigold and Mr. Chops. The plays will run December 12 thru January 31 at Riverside Studios.
The two stories were written during the heyday of Dickens and he performed them himself at some of his public appearances. But that seems to be all of it. Marigold hasn't been performed for a century and a half.
Callow played Dickens in The Mystery of Charles Dickens, which played on both sides of the Atlantic. Most recently, Callow was in Waiting for Godot, along with Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart and Ronald Pickup at the Haymarket . Key films include Four Weddings and a Funeral, Howard's End, A Room with a View and Shakespeare in Love.
