London's Almeida has announced that Will Keen (Kiss of the Spider Woman) and Nancy Carroll(The Enchantment) will lead the cast in Samuel West's production of Harley Granville Barker's Waste, which begins performances on Sept 25. In Barker's political play, which was re-written in 1926 after it was initially banned in 1906, Keen will play Henry Trebell who finds that his brilliant career is under threat after the death of a woman who has illegally aborted his child. Carroll plays Amy O'Connell with whom Trebell has an affair just before he is promoted to the government's cabinet. The Almeida's season will continue with the European premier of Neil LaBute's In A Dark House, which begins performances on Nov. 20 and will be helmed by artistic director Michael Attenborough. Steven Mackintosh (My Zinc Bed) and David Morrissey (best known for his portrayal of Gordon Brown in Peter Morgan's TV drama The Deal ) will play estranged brothers Drew and Terry whose reunion forces them to relive carefully forgotten childhood memories.
