Maverick actor, writer and director Steven Berkoff is to perform in revivals of two of his one-man-shows, Tell-Tale Heart adapted from Edgar Allan Poe's Gothic horror story, and Dog Berkoff's vicious portrayal of a British skinhead and his pet. Berkoff is riding high after his well-received stage version of Elia Kazan's classic movie On the Waterfront which recently opened at the Nottingham Playhouse. Tell-Tale Heart is told by a man who protests his sanity while explaining how he killed and dismembered a neighbor. Dog sees Berkoff play a football hooligan and his pet bull terrier Roy. Both pieces will play East London's Hackney Empire on July 9 and 10 as part of the Empire's Spice Festival. It is expected that On the Waterfront will transfer to the West End, though venue and dates have yet to be announced.
